Founding Therapist
Nik Byrnes

I'm Nik, a humanistic and integrative therapist who believes therapy should fit around you, rather than expecting you to fit into one particular approach.

For the past seven years, I've worked in residential rehabilitation, supporting people through some of life's most challenging experiences. This has reinforced my belief in the importance of trust, compassion and creating a space where people feel genuinely heard and understood.

I draw on different therapeutic approaches to suit your individual needs. My role isn't to tell you what to do or pretend to have all the answers, but to work alongside you, helping you explore your experiences, understand your feelings and find your own way forward.

I'm also a real person. I'm 54, a family man, and outside of therapy I'm usually accompanied by my rather loyal cocker spaniel, who seems to believe being my shadow is her full-time occupation.

You don't need to have everything figured out before coming to therapy. Sometimes, simply having someone listen without judgement is a good place to start.

Understanding Relationships and Attachment

I'm particularly interested in how our early relationships can influence the way we see ourselves, connect with others and respond to difficult situations.

Exploring these patterns through attachment theory can help us understand recurring relationship difficulties, emotional responses and the ways we protect ourselves when feeling vulnerable. Together, we can develop greater self-awareness and explore healthier, more fulfilling ways of relating to ourselves and others.
